Safely protesting in a pandemic 101  (8 tips to keep to safe)

  1. Arrive late and hang near the edge of the rally. Try to keep 6 feet away from others. Only walk near people that are also wearing masks. It’s easy to get out and back away if someone is too close to you.

  2. Wear masks with filters and bring sanitizer. Also wear glasses or a face shield if you can. Sometimes they will give out goggles, which is also a better alternative to glasses. Sanitize everything you touch and keep it up throughout the walk.

  3. Do NOT remove your mask at any time!! If you need to drink water... go to the edge and drink when no one is around.

  4. Only go to the protest with someone you live with or have already been in contact with. I don’t recommend going with a group or socializing and chatting with people nearby.

  5. Try to stay away from people yelling because Covid is spread through droplets. Bring a noisemaker instead. Keep talking to a minimum.

  6. Another great way to be a part of the protest without walking around with a group... is to show up and watch from a safe social distance. Watch from a bridge or overpass where there are fewer people. Bring a sign and sit near the edge and cheer. Show the protesters some LOVE as they go by.

  7. Put Black Lives Matter signs in your windows and show your neighbors you are supporting the cause and anti-racism efforts.

  8. Another way to support is to pass out supplies. Hand sanitizer, reusable masks, food, water, band-aids, goggles, and more are great items to give out. Again, only do this while wearing masks, gloves, and taking proper safety precautions.

ECO TIP:

Please keep plastic packaging and disposable products to a minimum. It’s Plastic Free July and we don’t need more garbage.
