1. Tell us your name.
Logan Riley.
2. Where do you currently live, and where did you grow up?
I currently live in Los Angeles, but I grew up in Johnston, Iowa.
3. Did you always know that you wanted to be an actor?
I’ve always known I wanted to perform. I was blessed to start dancing professionally at a young age. This made me fall in love with being on stage and in front of the camera. It also opened up opportunities for me to start acting. I started acting around the age of 11, and ever since it’s all I’ve wanted to do.
4. Tell us about your role as Kaylee in the upcoming Netflix film, “The Prom”.
Kaylee, the captain of the cheerleading squad, is popular and confident. At the beginning of the film, she is opinionated and close minded. Throughout she learns acceptance and has her own personal growth.
5. Is there anything that you can relate to with Kaylee?
I think I can, and we all can, relate to Kaylee in the sense that we have all had things in our life that we have had to learn and grow from. I hope to continue to have an open mind on any topic.
6. What was the cast like?
Mesmerizing & Surreal. I’ve looked up to every single one of them. Sitting across from them in our cast chairs, I feel like pinching myself. The best part was how comfortable they made all of us “newbies” feel, which made filming fun and easy.
7. Share your favorite memory from filming.
My favorite memory would be filming the last musical number in the film. Everyone in the cast was involved so the energy in the room was unforgettable. Three days straight of acting, singing, and dancing in a high school gym. It really summed up the whole essence of the film.
8. Tell us about your very first acting gig. How would you say you’ve grown compared to
when you first started?
My first acting role was a guest star on Modern Family. How have I not grown since I first started?! I’ve learned so much by continuously auditioning, watching TV and movies, reading scripts, and working on different projects. One thing I’ve always kept in mind is that sometimes watching and listening, instead of doing, can help so much in the process of growing as an actor. I know I still have so much to learn, and I can’t wait to keep growing.
9. On top of being an actress, you have a background in dance. Tell us about it.
I love this question! Without dance I wouldn’t be where I am today. At the very core dance allows you freedom of expression. I realized I could take that same gift into acting. It is easy to say I have a special place in my heart for dance and those who introduced me to the entertainment industry. I signed with my first dance agency and booked my first professional job when I was nine years old thanks to the celebrated choreographer and dancer, Brian Friedman. A mentor and inspiration in my life. I truly owe him and others in this circle so much gratitude, and I am here today because of the path they showed me. Teaching me to put my heart out there in movement combined with a lot hard preparation and work is the only way to succeed. That is something I’ve taken with me into my acting career. I have found myself reuniting with some of my favorite choreographers in my acting career as well. While working on Fuller House, I worked with Cris Judd who was also incredibly pivotal in my life. I owe a huge thank you to my background in dance, the teachers, and choreographers I’ve worked with.
10. If you could work with anyone in the future, who would it be?
There are so many, but right now I would love to work with Olivia Wilde. I listened to her podcast interview with Sam Jones, and after hearing about her process as a director, I was hooked. The way she creates her environment on set is an actor’s dream. The collaborative aspect and the way she challenges her actors is something I hope for in my future.
11. How have you been spending your time during quarantine?
I have spent a lot of time working on self-love and self-care. Because of the quarantine, it was nice to slow down and find new things that inspire me and make me happy. Reading, journaling, and meditating are all daily habits I’ve gotten into that have helped me stay grounded and sane during this time. Every other hour of the day I am usually watching a new TV show or movie that is on my watchlist.
12. Do you have any advice for anyone who wants to start acting?
If I were to give anyone advice in acting or doing anything with their life it would be to do what is in your heart. If it is in your heart and you genuinely love it do not allow any barriers to get in your way. One thing I know for sure, I’ve never done this to be famous, but because acting is what fuels me and makes me happy in life.
13. What are some of your favorite films?
Almost Famous, Chicago, Moonlight, To Catch a Thief, Knives Out, Perks of being a Wallflower, Mamma Mia, Honey Boy, The Wife. I could go on and on, but these are some of my favorites I’ve watched recently.
14. What’s next for you?
I want to take time to educate myself on TV & film, build my craft, and challenge myself for whatever project it is I do next: working with another cast, director, and production team that inspire me to be my best.
15. What is your motto in life?
Do everything with love & kindness because that will get so far.
