What famous musicians do you admire?
I admire anyone who puts their whole heart into their music. My biggest influences have come from the 80s new wave and post punk scene. I love The Cure, Blondie, New Order. Most recently I have been inspired by St. Vincent.
How has your style been impacted throughout your career so far?
I’ve always loved getting dressed. I love fashion and expression through it. As my music has evolved, I so too have evolved as a person and, in turn, my style as well. I find myself wanting to be bolder, in everything.
What are some of your goals in the music industry?
I just want to make music for the rest of my life and tour the world doing so. I hope I can always connect through music.
What are some ideas that inspire your music?
Lately I am inspired by rage and a want to change the world. Rage can be fuel, though, so I don’t mind.
You have said before that lots of your inspiration comes from the 80s. What was the main reason you decided to take inspiration from this time period?
I have always been drawn to the 80s for inspiration. There’s something about the music that came out of that time. it has a nostalgia to it, a sentimentality to it that has always made my heart beat faster.
Do you enjoy being in Los Angeles or New York City more?
I love both cities so much for such different reasons. I never thought I’d leave New York when I first moved there from Los Angeles- but now that I’m back in LA I’ve come to really, really love my life here. That being said, I miss NY and can’t wait to visit my life there.
