What enticed you to begin a career as an actress?
It was something I had a passion for. Storytelling has always been something I found to be super fun and when I realized it was something I could do for a living, I didn’t hesitate nor did I have second thoughts. I studied it and fell in love with the art of acting and the psychological aspect to it.

How has your experience been playing the role of “Nails” on Mayans MC, New Mexico?
It's been so much fun! I've never been a bartender before nor pregnant, so this was all new territory for me. ‘Nalis’ is a pretty cool person and I loved getting to know her. Being part of the Mayans family has been an honor and now watching it back and seeing my peers work, has made me feel like I’m a better artist because my costars are such talented actors and so inspirational.

What is your favorite episode you appear in of Mayans MC?
That’s a tough one because I’ve been excited to come work on every episode, but my favorite may have been the first one or the finale. It was fun and everyone was so kind and welcoming that by the last episode, I was sad and didn't want the journey to end. I had just begun to dive into the world of Mayans and getting to know everyone. There were more group scenes leading into the finale and that was nice to have because I experienced the different energy that everyone had on set.

Does the name “Nails” on Mayans MC mean anything specific, underlying message about the character & their attitude?
She is tough as Nails…” Period! She has to deal with the pressure of bringing a life into this world, along with a partner who is clearly broken and doesn't take her seriously. She still shows up to work every day and keeps her composure even though she has to see Angel (Clayton Cardenas) in whatever mood he is in that day. That takes a tough person.

What kind of acting roles will you be pursuing in the future?
I want to continue to be challenged with every opportunity. I feel like I’m finally in a place where I’m ready to be the most vulnerable on camera than I’ve ever been. It’s crazy because every character I’ve played on screen has been a physical challenge. When I was filming “Grand Hotel,” I gained weight and had to feel comfortable with that and for “Roswell: New Mexico,” I slowly lost weight and had my hair natural on camera for the first time which was a breath of fresh air. Now, while being a part Mayans, I had my first sex scene and I felt empowered and the most comfortable in my own skin than I have ever felt before. I’m ready to really open my heart and feel the most exposed emotionally.

What inspired you become a Vegan? How has this changed your life?
Humanity inspired me. I knew I had to be a leader and take steps in the direction in which I would want to lead my inner child, my own children, family, and friends. So, I shifted my lifestyle in doing what I’ve always said. In loving animals. My goodness, I love them so much! They inspire me to be present and contribute to our eco system selflessly. What happens to them for our temporary satisfaction is something I could no longer accept within myself. I’ve always wanted to help animals and save their lives. Now I do just that.

What is your biggest challenge being a Vegan? Any advice you would give to others starting this lifestyle change?
My biggest challenge is not apologizing for it. Sometimes I find myself saying sorry when I remind others of my lifestyle but I’m not sorry for standing up for animals. I’m very proud that I have finally come to the point in my life where I am living my truth in my name. Justice!

What opportunities or upcoming roles are you most excited for?
I’m looking forward to seeing what the future will hold for ‘Nails.’ We shall see if I’m on for the ride baby ;)

Of all the roles you have played in the past, which is your favorite?
My favorite role will still have to be ‘Sofia’ from the short Trapped, a project that I assisted in directing. Trapped was a gorilla styled short film (filmed on film) based on 24 hours in the Bronx revolving around the life of a guy named Tre. A boy from the South Bronx.
