7 Gender Neutral and Androgynous Brands

Fashion is always evolving, slowly becoming more diverse and inclusive. It also celebrates gender neutral and androgynous clothing. Especially for queer Americans, gender neutral and androgynous clothing allows them the freedom and ability to highlight their personal style without being limited by traditional gender roles. However, it can be difficult to know how and where to find such clothing. Most malls and stores separate their clothes into either men or women’s sections, leaving non-binary and other gender non-conforming people with difficulty in navigating where to shop. Therefore, here is a guide of seven brands that sell gender neutral and androgynous clothing.

One: Androgynous Fox

Androgynous Fox, founded in 2015, “provide[s] a voice and visual platform to a community that has thus far been underrepresented." Run by a team of queer individuals, they work to provide high quality and ethically made clothing. Androgynous Fox’s sizing runs from XS to 4XL, with a variety of tops, bottoms, and accessories. Their selection also includes a kids’ section. Apparel can be viewed at  https://androgynousfox.com/

Two: Dapper Boi

Born from necessity, Dapper Boi was founded in 2015 to create the gender neutral and size inclusive brand Vicky Pasche. After years of being unable to find clothes matching Pasche’s style and fit, Pasche and her wife created a solution to shopping for ill-fitting clothes in the men’s section. A body inclusive apparel line, Dapper Boi, strives to be affordable and stylish with sizes ranging from 26 waist to a 4XL shirt. Their products include tops, bottoms, accessories, and loungewear. The Phluid Project takes inspiration from its founder Rob Smith’s heritage. As a third generation Native American of the Ojibwa tribe, Smith wanted to honor Two Spirit Indigenous leaders. Thus, the Phluid Project was launched in 2018, with the goal to "make gender-free apparel and accessories available worldwide." The Phluid Project offers tops, accessories, fragrances, and undergarments both to the U.S. and internationally. Products range in size from S to 4XL. Dedicate to empowering the queer community, TomboyX originally focused on creating underwear that fit regardless of size or gender. Thus, they offer tucking, packing, and period underwear along with several other options. As TomboyX grew, founders Fran and Naomi expanded into more apparel including swimwear, sleepwear, tops, and accessories. Sizes range from 3XS to 6XL.
