Add these 5 Foreign TV Shows to Your Must-Watch List this Summer 

It’s been a busy year. So, let’s unwind and de-stress this summer by watching some of the best foreign television series. We’ve compiled a list of our top five must-watch shows for summer 2024, and here they are:


1. Slow Horses 

Based on Mick Herron’s Slough House novel series, this British drama is full of plot twists. It tells the story of Jackson Lamb—played by Academy Award winner Gary Oldman—as he leads a dysfunctional team of MI5 agents. This dark humour series delves into the themes of redemption and failure, which has earned the show a whopping 97 percent rotten tomatoes rating.

2. Pachinko 

With a similar rating to Slow Horses, Pachinko also has a 97 percent rotten tomatoes rating. This show is an emotional one—an multigenerational story about a Korean immigrant family across four generations as they undergo a quest to survive. The critics reviews for this show are exceptional, where many are saying that it's just as good as the book.

3. Gyeongseong Creature 

Based in the spring of 1945, this Korean historical thriller is about a young man and woman who struggle to survive. Fighting monsters born out of human greed, this is a show praised for its uniqueness, strong performances, and cultural insight. Not to mention, Gyeongseong Creature has received a rating of 91 percent rotten tomatoes

4. Hijack

During a seven hour flight from Dubai to London, Flight KA29 is hijacked. This series tells the thrilling tale of corporate negotiator Sam Nelson as he uses his professional expertise to try and save the citizens on board. With one season, this foreign TV show has secured an 88 percent rotten tomatoes rating. So, we’re adding this one to our list.

5. Land of Women

Created by Ramón Campos, this series blends comedy and drama to tell the story of Gala, a New York socialite who flees from her husband to a town in Spain with her mother and daughter. Gala finds herself confronting her deepest family secrets and the small-town quirks that surround her. Expectably, this show has received an 87 percent rotten tomatoes rating.
