BELLA DOSE
Bella Dose, the world’s first bilingual Latin pop, girl group, consists of four members: Jennifer Hernandez, Thais Rodriquez, Melany Rivera, and Brianna Leah Curiel. This American group has a “What About Me” Merch Collection. The group sings and writes in Spanish and English and recently released a new album, “Suelta,” featuring eight, new songs
What does your group name mean? How did you come up with the name?
Jenni: Bella Dose means a "dose of beauty." It also means "fair share" in Italian, which perfectly defines us because we share everything. Vicky Curiel, who invented the name "Bella Dose," gave us three months to come up with a name for our group, and we were having a hard time finding the perfect name for us. So, one morning, she walked into our room and said, "Guys! I got it. How about Bella Dose? And we instantly fell in love with it.
What is your favorite song on the album?
Thais: My favorite song on our EP is either Luna or Suelta. I love how free and empowered Suelta makes me feel, and I'm in love with the story behind Luna. Then again, I also love "si me llamas" because of how relatable it is. It's so hard to choose just one.
What/Who inspired the album?
Melany: Our "Suelta" EP was inspired by our personal experiences. We wanted our audience to connect with us and share our stories that others could relate to. We really wanted to give a piece of our hearts with this one, and we're truly honored to have received nothing but love on it so far.
How would you describe the "vibe" of the album? What message are you trying to portray to your fans?
Brianna: With our new music, we wanted to show a new vibe to Bella Dose, something people would never expect. We are always open to trying new beats and new lyrics.
How did you all meet? What brought you together?
Jenni: Bella Dose started when Vicky Curiel, the CEO and creator of the group, decided to form the world's first Latin bilingual girl group. She held auditions across the U.S. and found us all in Miami, FL. From there, she flew us to LA, and we went through a training program to learn guitar, piano, music theory, and we even learned how to engineer our own sessions. Vicky wanted us to be hands-on with our craft, so she made sure we knew everything there was to know about music. We then started writing our own songs together, and it is now what you hear today from us.
What's your songwriting process?
Brianna: When we write music, we use a lot of synergy. We always bounce off of each other's stories and experiences. A lot of our music is based on true events. We want to be personal with our audience and to have them be able to connect with our songs.
If you could open a show for any artist, whom would it be?
Thais: I think our dream person to open a show for would-be Ariana Grande. We absolutely love everything about her and her music. We could even harmonize with her if she needed us to! We're manifesting and praying that one day it comes true.
What is one message you would give to your fans?
Melany: It may sound cliche, but it is very true . I want to tell our fans to stay true to themselves. When you stay true to yourself, people will love you for who you are, and it will get you far. There is nothing better than always being yourself and building off of that.
What's next for Bella Dose, any future collaborations, tours, or upcoming music planned? Melany:
For now, we are continuing to make music and content for our fans. Once the pandemic calms down and we continue to take safety measures to protect each other, we definitely plan to tour and visit our fans across the world.
Has your style (music & fashion) evolved since the beginning of your career?
Brianna: I've always loved music and fashion, I think my fashion is based on what type of music I'm doing at the moment, so if I'm listening to alternative music, I want to dress alt, and so on.
What do you enjoy the most about being a Latin Pop Girl Group?
Jenni: What I love the most about being in a girl group is the sisterhood that comes along with it. We've grown so much together and had endless memories that we will forever cherish.
