Cherry LA Collaborated with RedBull Racing for the Las Vegas Grand Prix
On November 19th, 2023, the Formula 1 Grand Prix was held in Las Vegas. Many racing fans were ecstatic to watch the race and support their favorite racers. The Grand Prix, held in LAs Vegas, brought even more glamour and fast paced life to “Sin City,” This year’s circuit took drivers down the Las Vegas Strip, all the way to the newly viral Las Vegas Sphere. With the buzz of the races, many companies and designers collaborated and created collections for Formula 1. In preparation for race day, many brands showcased and released their collections prior to the day.
Many different collections were produced, with iconic brands developing racing-inspired streetwear. Some brands created more than one collection, like Puma, which did two capsule collections, including Ferrari x Joshua Vides x Puma and ASAP Rocky x Puma. Ferrari and Puma’s collaboration followed the more traditional racing attire, with apparel that kept Ferrari’s signature red color and footwear that included traditional racing boots. ASAP Rocky’s collaboration with Puma came with a twist on racing gear, including printed racing gloves and distressed baseball caps.
Another collaboration that caught my eye was Lewis Hamilton’s +44 x Takashi Murakami collection. This collaboration moved away from traditional racewear silhouettes and used Murakami-styled graphics to highlight the Grand Prix. This collection included more brightly colored hoodies, crewnecks, and t-shirts.
The collaboration that caught my attention was the Cherry La x Oracle Red Bull Racing collaboration. While moving away from traditional racing clothing, Red Bull Racing collaborated with the “Americana Luxury” brand , Cherry Los Angeles. This brand dipped its toes in the racing aesthetic, while keeping its traditional American clothing style. There are a range of items available from hoodies and jackets to shirts and hats! Through fun graphics, interesting stitching, and embroidered patches the racing details were included in subtle ways. One item that has received the most attention is the varsity jacket decked out with black wool and brown leather, along with embroidery and patches. While their clothes is more on the expensive side, with prices ranging from $70.00 tops to the $1,100.00 varsity jacket, many have praised the company for its work.
