Last week Moschino shared some exciting news, announcing their newly appointed creative director. After Jeremy Scott left his position at the Italian fashion house, the company scouted for another seven months to find the perfect fit to be his successor. It was announced that fashion designer David Renne will be taking over the position. With his background in fashion, particularly working for Gucci, Renne will be a great new addition to the Moschino family.

The House of Moschino took to Instagram to announce that Renne will begin working as creative director as of November 1st, 2023. In the post, it was stated that Renne’s responsibilities included overseeing the women’s, men’s, and accessories for Moschino main line and will report to Massimo Ferretti, the Executive Chairman of Aeffe SpA. A statement from Ferretti was also included, where he talks about Renne and why he is the best fit for the position. Ferretti stated, “We have all been impressed by Davide’s extremely sophisticated vision of fashion’s power to create a living dialogue with the world around us, and by his deep understanding of the House of Moschino’s legacy…”, showing admiration for the Tuscan-born designer. Along with his design skills and understanding of the industry, David Renne also worked for Gucci under the legendary Alessandro Michele, as a womenswear designer for two decades. With the support of the Moschino family, and his background and knowledge in the industry, we can expect to see great things from Renne.

Even though Jeremy Scott is not working for Moschino anymore, his memorable and sensational designs will be missed. As we looked at Scott’s designs, and years at Moschino, it is intriguing to see what David Renne will do with the luxury brand. We are looking forward to seeing his new and fresh takes on the Moschino aesthetic, and how he will transform it with his own vision. If you are eager to see his designs for Moschino, the debut of his first collection (for Fall/Winter 2024) will be shown during the February 2024 Milan Fashion Week! As we are eager to see his designs, the designer seems to be just as excited to start! Renne took to Instagram to express his excitement and gratitude for his new position. He stated, “That resonates deeply with me: what fashion—Italian fashion especially, and the House of Moschino most of all, can achieve with its enormous power, should be accomplished with a sense of play, of joy. A sense of discovery, and experimentation”. We look forward to seeing how Moschino develops under the direction of Renne, and all the new up-coming designs.
