When did you know you wanted to pursue acting?
My family and I loved watching movies together. It was one of our favorite things to do. Because I was born in Nepal and later moved to a smaller town in Australia, seemingly a million miles away from the industry, it didn’t really occur to me that acting was something I could do growing up as a child. No one in my proximity was in the arts, but my dad was always creative and fostered that side of me with literature and his love of film. When I was 18 the world had opened up more and it was on my list to try. Once I did, in a small acting class in Adelaide I was hooked. It’s all I wanted to do.

Congratulations on the “Severance's” Emmy nomination for BEST DRAMA SERIES and your HCA nomination for BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS. Tell us how you prepared for your role.
I took my lead from the scripts and Ben and Dan. I also read Eckhart Tolle and talked with my mentor Lynette Sheldon at length. Sometimes it’s about formulating the right questions. I wanted to do my best and come to the table with flexibility. It was a really tricky role and we had to tread carefully and just try lots of different things.

What was it like working with Ben Stiller in “Severance?”
Working with Ben was amazing. I loved how specific and precise he was. He loved to try things and play. He is very considerate of the creative process for the actors. Being an actor himself makes him really wonderful to work with.

Did you expect the show to take off the way it did?
You never really know when you start something. You hope people love it obviously. I just knew I loved it the moment I read it.

Tell us more about your upcoming film “Joe Baby?”
Joe Baby came out of nowhere. I was filming another movie in Boston and went straight into filming it. I think I had a day in between films. I play Joe Baby, a debt collector who gets muddled up in a murder mystery and a journey of self-discovery. I met some incredible people and had an extraordinary experience. The cast is amazing, and I’m excited to see how it turns out.

How did you prepare for the role of Joe?
I had little time to prepare. It was just something I had to dive into. I didn’t have time to over think it, which can be nice sometimes.

Who is someone in your industry that you look up to? Why?
That’s a tough question because there are so many. I suppose the common thread for me with all of them is being great but also being kind and open minded. There are obviously many people whom I don’t know and they are amazing. But the people I look up to are the ones I encounter in my work whom I personally get to know. People who are impeccable with their work but also hold space for others around them.

What was it like working on such a big franchise, “Jurassic World Dominion,” and what was your favorite part about the project?
It was incredible. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of that world. We filmed during an extraordinary time. So many different emotions. I was obviously thrilled to be there, but the world was going through such a challenging time. My favorite part of it was perhaps the silver lining of everything that was happening, which was being huddled together in a hotel with the cast and getting through it together as a team.

You have worked on so many different types of projects. What would you like to do next?
I’m not sure. I’ve been extremely fortunate so far; I’m going to keep trusting that what’s right will present itself. I’m really excited to start filming season two of “Severance.”
