Dua Lipa x Versace: La Vacanza Collection

Throughout her career, Dua Lipa has been both a muse and admirer of Versace. Her friendship with Donatella Versace first started when Dua wore the brand while performing her hit song “New Rules” at the BRIT Awards in 2018. Dua Lipa quickly became a Versace it-girl wearing archival looks and custom designs, starring in campaigns, and even making her runway debut. Oh, and who could forget that iconic custom butterfly dress she wore to the Grammys in 2021? Now, Dua and Donatella have collaborated for the hottest collection of the summer.

Donatella Versace and Dua Lipa unveiled their collection, “La Vacanza”, in Cannes, France with a picturesque runway show on the water. The show seemed both playful and classy with references to Versace’s 90s runway glam. Versace describes the collection as a “celebration of the endless opportunities of creativity, collaboration, friendship, and a full life lived in Versace.” Featuring swimsuits, pantsuits, dresses, mini skirts, and even a pair of metallic butterfly cowboy boots, this collection has something for everyone. Versace brings fresh designs for the summer while also putting modern twists on archival pieces. The designs embody both Versace and Dua, featuring butterfly, ladybug, and polka dot motifs. (If you didn’t already know, Dua is pretty much obsessed with butterflies.) The monochromatic bubblegum pink, baby blue, and lavender looks perfectly fit the trending “Barbiecore” aesthetic. The collection comes just in time for the highly-anticipated Barbie movie releasing later this summer. In the film, Dua Lipa plays a mermaid Barbie. She also worked on the movie’s soundtrack and even wears looks from the “La Vacanza” collection in the music video for “Dance the Night.”
