New York’s burger culture finds its renowned history at Hamburger America. Located in Soho, Hamburger America is a burger restaurant that holds a nostalgic, retro environment with their eleven yellow stools. The interior design upholds the balance between a fast-food restaurant and immersive art installations. With the vinyl-like floor tiles, Hamburger America touches up on the look of traditional burger counters.

Hamburger America serves hamburgers, sandwiches, shoestring fries, lemonade, milk, and sweet treats. The burger menu consists of George Motz’s Fried Onion Burger, The Classic Smash Burger, and the Steamed Cheeseburger. The sandwich menu includes tuna salad, egg salad, peanut butter and jelly, grilled cheese, hot ham, and salad plate sandwiches. In terms of drinks, the restaurant  serve soda, coffee, tea, lemonade, wine, and their signature drinks: Yoo-Hoo and Miller High Life. Hamburger America also serves a wide multitude of milk drinks, including milk, chocolate milk, coffee milk, mocha milk, and even chocolate egg cream. The sweets include key lime and chocolate cream pie slices, chocolate chip cookies, milk n’ cookies, and chocolate brownies.

The founder, George Motz, is a renowned burger specialist that produced a 2004 documentary film titled “Hamburger America.” Additionally, he has written books on the history of hamburgers in the United States.

Furthermore, this month’s Monthly Burger Special is the Steamed Cheeseburger, a 1959 classic from Ted's Restaurant in Meriden, Connecticut. It consists of a Vienna Roll with steamed beef patty, melted white cheddar, raw onion slice, mustard, and ketchup. The Steamed Cheeseburger will resurface the nation’s burger heroes, exemplifying America’s culinary history and roots by celebrating Ted Restaurant’s 65th anniversary. Bill Foreman, the nephew of Ted, was present in New York City to honor the festivities g on November 6th and 7th.
