Home Décor Roundup, 2024

In the wake of houses being painted white from the cabinets to the couch, the idea that a home should look lived in instead of sterile has been revived as a novel idea. Regardless of being a minimalist or a maximalist, highlighting personality where you sleep is in. 2024 is the year of treating our homes as its own special occasion. Where else can one explore one’s own eclecticism safely without judgement?

ART

One of the easiest ways to liven up a space is by adding colorful art that speaks to you. No matter what you are interested in, there is a set of artists who live to create the work of your dreams. Whether that is calm or loud, a piece of art hanging from your wall is a great focal point with which to start. Having a stack of magazines on your coffee table is always chic but having a fun piece of art resting on it adds just that much more personality. Art is subjective, but if you want to showcase who you really are, this is the perfect way to do so.

PLANTS

Another effective addition to any home is a plant. A living creature that provides decoration by just existing. Interactive artwork, if you will. Big or small, plants offer a biodiverse way to welcome you home. Biophilic designs can range from flowers in a vase to a cactus you can leave unwatered while you’re on vacation, to the gorgeous monstera plant.

GOLD

Gold not only is a way to accessorize your body, but your living room, bedroom, or even the bathroom. Gilded furniture provides an air of elegance that has not once gone out of style in all of history. Even if you prefer silver to wear around your fingers and neck, gold brightens up a room and accents anything perfectly as to not overwhelm the whole vibe, but to accentuate it.

WALLPAPER

An accent wall has always been prevalent, but, in 2024, we are taking it one step further with wallpaper. This combines the effect of an art piece and the efforts of an accent wall with the option of any print or material. It can be used to add life to a kitchen or make a small bathroom standout. There are even renter-friendly options if permanent paste is not in agreement or if your tastes change often. From bold graphics to calming colors, wallpaper is an amazing trend that offers unlimited possibilities.

Midcentury modern is full of unique shapes and splashes of color but so will meshing a touch of every era. In 2024, we are decorating the house as an extension of the body. We have staple pieces, like shoes or a skirt we take out for a special occasion. We should treat our homes as a special occasion, too, and start romanticizing our own life from the minute we wake up.
