Jacquemus Debuts Endearing Childrenswear Collection: "MINI ME"

With Jacquemus being a fan favorite clothing brand of 2023, it came as no shock when the brand debuted a childrenswear collection. The French luxury brand has made a name for itself over the years, through its sleek and minimalistic aesthetic. Jacquemus’ creations, under designer Simon Porte, have become globally popular, so dipping its toes in childrenswear is a milestone for the brand. The collection, entitled “MINI ME,” was announced in the last week of November, just in time for the holidays. This childrenswear collection keeps in style with Jacquemus’s clothing, just in wholesome shrunken versions.

Jacquemus is one of those brands that does minimalistic design at its best, with a chic European flare. While the majority of the clothes have simple colors and patterns, the brand uses eccentric silhouettes and textures to elevate the looks. With oversized coats, dreamy sundresses, and sleek matching sets, the brand has become a household name in the luxury design world. This design aesthetic has wormed its way to the “MINI ME” collection as well. Jacquemus took to social media to announce his first childrenswear collection, sharing photos of the looks. The photos highlighted many of the designs in a simple childish photoshoot, complete with a carousel showcasing the looks and some Jacquemus accessories.

The “MINI ME” collection includes a range of products for children ranging from four years old to twelve years old. The overall aesthetic for the collection seems endearing, with cozy sweatsuits, denim skirts and jackets, and soft-textured bucket hats. This allows the little ones to bundle up for the coldest months to come. There are also some more festive looks, for the holiday events to come. Some pieces include paint splatters button downs, petite sweaters, and zipped cargo pants. The majority of the pieces come in a range of colors like red, pink, beige, and brown, bringing a mix of sophistication and playfulness to the collection.

The inspiration behind the collection is truly something captivating and charming. This is a great collection to shop for if you have children of your own. It allows you to “twin” with your children, in a way that suits both an adult and child. Meanwhile the details of paint splatters, bright colors, and oversized clothing is a great way to mix children’s playfulness and the original aesthetic of the brand. It also brings an essence of nostalgia, like paint splattered tops, nodding to the creative and messy times of childhood. The overall collection and campaign bring that sense of nostalgia through the idea of oversized clothing for children, like when you were a kid and would raid your parents’ closet.
