Jane Iredale: Clean Makeup, Healthy Skin & High Quality Performance

Have you ever started breaking out after wearing makeup? And then to cover the breakouts, you applied more makeup? Now you have a hate-love relationship with beauty products. Maybe you started swapping out your usual products for cleaner options, but you just aren’t satisfied with their performance.

Jane Iredale is a beauty brand proving that you can have it all: clean makeup, healthy skin, and high-quality performance. Jane Iredale founded the brand after working as a casting director and producer and noticing that actors were struggling with skin issues as a result of heavy stage makeup. She wanted to create makeup that was actually good for the skin. The Amazing Base Loose Mineral Powder was loved by many for its ability to perform like makeup without feeling like makeup. Now, over 25 years later, the brand is still adored and offers makeup, skincare, and supplements.

To fully put this brand to the test, I did my whole makeup routine using only Jane Iredale products. The first product that I tried was the Smooth Affair® Mattifying Face Primer. As someone with an extremely oily t-zone, I was eager to test it out. This primer is weightless and easily melts into the skin. As promised, it instantly mattified my face and helped to smooth the appearance of my pores. For foundation, I received 2 kinds from the brand: the Glow Time Pro™ BB Cream and the Beyond Matte™ Liquid Foundation. On the right side of my face, I used the Beyond Matte™ foundation. This foundation feels lightweight and blends into the skin nicely. It's a 3-in-1 primer, concealer, and foundation that reduces the appearance of pores and shine. It didn’t give an intense amount of coverage off the bat, but it’s buildable and perfect for a “no makeup” makeup look. I liked how natural it looked and how my skin still looked like skin. This foundation brightened and smoothed my complexion while giving it a semi-matte finish. It looked like my skin but better. The Beyond Matte™ Liquid Foundation comes in 18 self-adjusting shades. I received the shade “M12” and at first, I thought it would be a bit too light, but once blended it ended up being a great match. On the left side of my face, I used the Glow Time Pro™ BB Cream. It’s a luminous, weightless BB cream with sun protection. I don’t usually go for BB creams so I didn’t know how I would feel about it, but it ended up being my favorite product from the brand. The Glow Time Pro™ BB Cream comes in 14 long-wearing shades. I got sent the shade “GT11” which was the perfect match. It’s always hard for me to find my exact shade, so props to the brand. The BB cream had slightly more coverage than the foundation and quickly covered my imperfections. I loved that it still felt lightweight and still had a natural, radiant finish. I’ve even been swapping it out for my holy grail foundation some days. Five out of five stars!

Up next, I used the Glow Time™ Bronzer Stick in “Scorch” to contour. I usually don’t bother with nose contour because it takes too long, but this stick made it quick and easy to get perfect contour lines. I was happy to see that the brand also had blush sticks. Like the bronzer stick, the Glow Time® Blush Sticks are creamy and pigmented. They’re buildable, blendable, and looked great on top of my makeup. The blush melted into the foundation beautifully and didn’t disturb my cheek makeup. The Glow Time® Blush Stick comes in 10 shades and can be used on the cheeks, lips, and body. I got to try “Fervor,” a bubble gum pink, and “Ember,” a bright raspberry. I loved both shades on their own, but I also enjoyed playing around and blending the two together. I topped the cream blush with the PurePressed® Blush. This powder blush is highly pigmented, a little goes a long way. It’s formulated to build like a powder and blend like a cream. I received the shades “Mystique,” a deep rosy brown, and “Dubonnet,” a neutral rose. I’ve been obsessed with “Mystique” and have used it nearly every day since trying it.
For eyes, I used the PurePressed® Eye Shadow Palette in “Naturally Glam.” The palette features 6 rich shimmer eyeshadows. I applied the shadows mostly with my fingers and created a gorgeous, bronze smokey eye. If shimmers aren’t for you, the palette also comes in 4 other options: Naturally Matte, Solar Flare, Pure Basics, and Storm Chaser. I prepped my lashes for mascara using the PureLash® Lash Extender & Conditioner. I used it on one eye to see if I noticed any difference. On the side I used it, my lashes had more length and volume. It saved me from having to apply several coats of mascara to get the thickness I wanted. For mascara, I tried the Beyond Lash™ Volumizing Mascara. This mascara added buildable volume to my lashes and helped to lift them.

To complete my makeup look, I used the Just Kissed® Lip and Cheek Stain. This product is magic in a stick. It transformed my lips from looking dry and dull to looking juicy and full of color. It’s stunning on the cheeks and made them look perfectly sunkissed. I love that it glides on like a lipstick, but feels like a balm. It’s available in 3 shades: Forever Red, Forever Peach, and Forever Pink. I tried out “Forever Peach” and it ended up being the most beautiful shade for me. These lip and cheek stains are long-lasting and adjust to your own chemistry to give you the perfect shade. Like I said, magic! This product is great for a monochromatic makeup look and it’s small enough to carry around in your purse when you’re on the go. To set my makeup I used the  POMMISST™ Hydration Spray. It felt luxurious and left my skin feeling hydrated. I love using it to bring my skin back to life, especially after using powders. I’d also like to give an honorable mention to Jane Iredale’s makeup brushes. I used the Blending/Contouring Makeup Brush to apply most of the products and it blended out everything flawlessly.

It’s easy to see why Jane Iredale’s products have been adored for nearly 30 years. The makeup genuinely performs well and knowing the ingredients are actually good for your skin is icing on the cake. If you struggle with skin issues after wearing makeup, or just want to try some great new beauty products, check out this brand.
