Logan Allen
Logan Allen began his television career in the reoccurring role of Vinnie on Nickelodeon’s “Talia in the Kitchen.” Since then, he co-starred in the independent film “Bernie the Dolphin” and its sequel film “Bernie the Dolphin 2” as Kevin Ryan, who, alongside his sister, befriend a dolphin and try to help him save his home and find his family. More recently, he took on the role of Kyle Townsend on Netflix’s “Sweet Magnolias.” The show, based on the book series of the same name, follows three best friends played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley as they navigate, romance, and pursue their careers, as well as motherhood.
What inspired you to begin acting?
I always wanted to be on TV; like most kids, I thought it would be cool. One day a family friend came up and said I should get into it because they thought I could be successful, but nobody in my family was in the industry, so we were hesitant. I really wanted at least to try it out, so my mom made it happen. My first job was a Bealls photoshoot. After I did that, I fell in love with it, so I worked my way up to commercials and then TV/Film.
Any favorite moments from “Sweet Magnolias” so far?
Ooooooh good question! Obviously, I can’t say any in season 2, but I love the whole last episode of season 1. There are so many things happening in the last 20 minutes, but that’s what makes it so good (and, of course, the car crash scene was wild).
What are you most looking forward to sharing with audiences in this new season?
One thing I’m really excited to share is Kyle’s state of mind. He’s feeling so many emotions after the car crash like sorrow, anger, depression, and guilt. Just buckle up and enjoy the show.
How do you prepare for a role?
I prepare for a role by really breaking down the character. The way I break them down varies from project to project, it really just depends on the type of character I’m playing. In season 2, I didn’t have to spend as much time breaking Kyle down, but I couldn’t just go in and do what I did the first time either. Kyle is growing into a man and is learning new things every day. You have to grow with that character too.
Do you have any dream roles?
My dream role is to be in a horror movie. I love horror movies so much, and I’ve actually been in a horror TV show (“Creepshow”), but I want to be in a film, especially, a slasher movie. That would be awesome.
How do you spend your free time?
I always try to be productive with my free time. At 17, I know it’s important to find your footing so that’s what I’m working on, but of course I play video games and spend too much time scrolling though Instagram and TikTok.
What are your goals in the next five years?
I feel like my goals in the next five years include having a consistent acting career and getting at least one horror movie!
Who is your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspirations overall are my parents. They raised me into the person I am today and I think I turned out OK. But seriously, they are amazing, and I literally wouldn’t be here without them. My biggest acting inspiration is Christian Bale. The effort he puts into every role is just remarkable. He is an absolute legend.
What is the best piece of advice you have received so far in your career?
There are a few, but one that really stuck with me was: “It only takes one job.” What that means is, one job can change your life. If you’re ever feeling down because you’re not booking anything, just remember, that next audition could be the one that changes your life for the better.
