Nadine Mills: “Supacell”
Imagine living your life as usual, going to work or school, and then one day discovering you have supernatural abilities—truly a "Spider-Man scenario." The Netflix series "Supacell" follows five Londoners who use their newfound powers and tackle serious real-life problems. We're excited to announce that the series has been renewed for a second season, featuring Nadine Mills as one of the main stars, playing the character "Sabrina." Join us as we delve into Nadine’s preparation for this role and learn about her favorite activities during her leisure time.
How does it feel to bring the character of "Sabrina" to life in Netflix's new action-adventure series "Supacell"? What steps did you take to prepare for such a dynamic role?
It feels good to bring a character like Sabrina to life. She has so many layers and depth to her which allowed me to really enjoy preparing for her. It’s about knowing your character's journey and staying true to that. Being able to bring real life experiences to your character is always a great way to prepare for a dynamic role. I was lucky enough to have a conversation with a black nurse who was at a similar point in her career as Sabrina so I was able to draw from her experience and implement that into my preparation. Ultimately, for me it comes down to learning the lines, understanding the script and being confident in knowing you’re ready for whatever comes your way.
Did you have to train for any stunts? If so, which one was the most challenging to pull off on set?
Yeah I had stunt training, the stunt team were great! I also had some combat training. I found the stunts fun and I felt they were not as challenging as I initially thought they would be. This is because I have a little daredevil nature to me so it was something I was excited to do. However if I had to choose it would be when I am getting suffocated by the wind hunter I had 2 wind machines blasting directly in my face and at points I genuinely felt like I was suffocating. Of course the stunt team were there to ensure everything ran smoothly and when watching that scene back it translated really well on screen.
How would you describe Sabrina's personality? Do you find any similarities between her and Nadine Mills?
Sabrina is very ambitious, caring, responsible and will fight for love especially when it comes to her sister. She has a quiet confidence to her which allows her be the strong person she is. We have some similarities: we both have a nurturing nature. I am also a determined and protective person when in comes to the ones I love.
Without giving away any spoilers, could you share your favorite scene or moment in the series?
Ahhh there are so many it’s hard to choose. I love the engagement scene, one of my favorites is when Sabrina first discovers her powers. I also really enjoyed watching and filming the Piccadilly scene. It's a great moment for all of the super 5. Ahhh I could list so many but then I’ll be giving away spoilers.
If you would travel back in time to star in a cult classic film, which one would you pick? This is a difficult one. There are a few that come to mind for different reasons. I love “Bring it On”, “Bridesmaids”, “Set it Off” and waiting to exhale. I may have to go with “Set it Off”.
If you could team up with any actor or actress for a dynamic superhero duo like "Deadpool and Wolverine," who would you choose as your partner?
I would team up with Samson Kayo, he is a talented actor and just so happens to be a really good friend of mine. I know we would have a fun time on set and he would make a great sidekick lol.
How do you prefer to spend your free days when you're not working?
Spend it with family and friends, just something really chilled and relaxed. I go to the gym and binge watch TV.
