Nanushka's Pre-Fall 22 Collection Lies at the Intersection of Beauty and Utility
Nanushka is an expert at pushing the boundaries of possibility when it comes to creating timeless pieces that are imbued with environmental consideration. With the brand’s Pre-Fall 2022 collection, Lifted Functionalism, Nanushka reinforces this consciousness, while bringing new silhouettes that defy seasonality.

As the Pre-Fall range is so aptly named, functionalism lies at the core of this collection — every piece, from billowing shawls to faux leather trousers, emphasizes utilitarian aspects such as oversized pockets and aesthetically placed buttons.
Mixed materials are employed as well; an assortment of slip satin, vegan leather, poplin, twill, double wool, and more, cements this collection as transitional, meant to be worn in many conditions and for many occasions. “In Lifted Functionalism, we show that typically functional materials and silhouettes can be beautiful; and typically beautiful materials and silhouettes can be functional,” says Sandra Sandor, Nanushka’s creative director.

Along with functionalism, Nanushka places a spotlight upon simplicity, bolstering the notion that less is more. A neutral color palette is consistent throughout Lifted Functionalism, but it is through elevated, non-traditional silhouettes — peek-a-boo cutouts, asymmetrical and off-the-shoulder hemlines — that each garment makes a pronounced statement.
Standout pieces include oversized vegan leather outerwear, vibrant hand-drawn printed pieces, and impeccably tailored trench coats. Vegan leather bags, an iconic Nanushka creation, act as the glue that ties the entire collection together, fortifying the notion that there is an inherent beauty in functionality and practicality.
