New York City’s Radio Bakery—Is the Line Worth it?

This week, PhotoBook Magazine dropped by one of New York’s finest bakeries—Radio Bakery. With a focus on sweet and savory croissants, sourdough bread and sandwiches, this bakery sells fresh goods every single day of the week. Radio Bakery has a large following of over 32 thousand followers on Instagram—and it’s for good reason. I mean, who wouldn’t want to try this?

Or even this?

Located on 135 India Street in Brooklyn, New York, this bakery has Instagrammers drooling over their phones. “Need this in a wallpaper pattern pls,” one commenter says. “oh frick I need this,” says another.

Even though it’s clear that Radio Bakery has perfected their food styling skills, what about how it tastes? Well, we’ve done our research—and here’s the rundown.

Alison Hernon (our Editor-In-Chief) started her meal with the classic smoked salmon on an “everything” seasoned focaccia with cream cheese, dill, and pickled onions. For those who are visual learners, here’s a picture:

To keep things savory, Alison tried the heirloom tomato croissant. Filled with a Parmesan soufflé filling, topped with juicy heirlooms and finished with fresh thyme and cracked black pepper—this snack is on the menu every day this summer.

The food at Radio Bakery has been crafted with care. Known as one of the best bakeries in Brooklyn on Instagram, their croissants and breads are made with locally milled organic flour.

Basically, Radio Bakery is a hit. And although we didn’t save any pastries to share, this is proof that this bakery is worth lining up for.

Many are willing to wake up early for croissants and focaccia sandwiches. Especially on the weekends, the line of customers stretches down the residential block. According to Reddit, one commenter claims to have the secret to skipping the line:

“I see crazy lines on weekends and holidays, but if you live in north Greenpoint and can go at odd hours, it's a quick in and out…some of their products are truly exceptional (like the brown butter corn cake 🤤).”

So, if hunger’s got you on edge, don’t wait too long—everything sells out fast. And after all, no one wants to be hangry.
