Oliver Blank

Oliver Blank is an actor, photographer, creative director, and content creator. Born and raised in Atlanta, he honed his competitive edge as an elite cheerleader and tennis player from 2014-2019. His dedication to excellence in his craft is heavily influenced by his grandfather, Arthur Blank, who not only founded Home Depot but also owns the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC. He can be seen in season 2 of Apple TV+'s popular series “Swagger,” in the recurring role of team captain “Brian,” as well the upcoming BET+ series “Caught Up,”  slated for release later this year. He currently trains full-time at the renowned David Gray Studios in Burbank and divides his time between Los Angeles and Atlanta. Aside from acting, he works with high-end designers and brands, producing cover shoots for publications such as Harper's Bazaar and creating content for and with other top content creators and influencers.

Why did you want to become an actor?
I stumbled into the acting realm during my time as a competitive cheerleader. I was busy being a cheerleader and just happened to be at this school linked to an acting studio. As senior year rolled around with no clear future plans, I found myself drawn to the craft. Within a month, I started collaborating with my agency.

What is your process for building a character?
It begins with research. Accuracy is pivotal for believability. And then there’s nothing like watching other actors do their thing – I learn so much from that. I appreciate observing fellow actors and sometimes collaborating with peers to get a fresh perspective on character development.

What do you enjoy about acting?
The most rewarding part of acting for me is the escape it provides—whether on set, auditioning, or in a class. It's a respite from daily responsibilities and a chance to inhabit another universe.

What are you learning in your training at David Gray Studios?
Reacting. It sounds simple, but it’s about really listening and responding to the other actors, not just waiting for your turn to speak. David's always reminding us to be in the moment and not get stuck in our own heads.

What is your dream role?
I dream of working on an A24 project. They're innovatively reshaping the filmmaking landscape, and their artistic approach, especially the cinematography, deeply resonates with me.

Who are some of your role models?
Zendaya stands out. Witnessing her transition from roles in "Shake it Up" and "K.C. Undercover" to become a formidable actress has been inspiring. Her performance in "Euphoria" especially highlighted his evolution.

How do you prepare for a role?
Preparation requires solitude. External influences, especially online distractions, can disrupt focus. Cutting down on the screen time helps me tune into my character more.

Where do you draw your inspiration?
Inspiration is everywhere: a passersby, friends, museums. My brain's always buzzing with ideas.

What are some things you enjoy doing when you’re not on set?
Photography has become a passion. Collecting cameras and capturing moments with friends in the creative domain offers a unique form of expression.

How does your acting influence your other creative outlets?
You’d think they'd overlap, but I like to keep them separate. When I'm acting, I'm all in. And the same goes for my other creative stints.

Please share a memorable moment from your career so far?
Oh, the day I landed my first gig for Apple TV was wild. I was grocery shopping, got the call, and basically screamed in aisle five. A few odd stares, but hey, totally worth it.

What have you learned so far in your career?
As time progresses, I've learned to relish the journey. The initial phase, filled with rejections, taught me patience and perseverance. Reflecting on the past three years, I value my growth and evolution.

How did your grandfather help shape you into who you are today?
He shaped me in many ways, but his dedication to philanthropy in particular has influenced how I view and engage with the world. In an industry often centered on the superficial, his dedication to giving back to Atlanta has been a humbling reminder of the larger needs of the community. It constantly nudged me to look beyond myself and recognize the bigger picture.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
I see myself diving even deeper into roles, always looking for the next challenge. There's something magic about becoming someone else. I can't wait to push my boundaries and take on some unexpected roles in the next few years, stepping outside my comfort zone.
