Parker McKenna Posey
Parker McKenna Posey, a Los Angeles native, is no stranger to the screen. She has worked in the entertainment industry for more than 17 years. She got her start in “My Wife and Kids” in 2001. Her current project, BET’s “Games People Play,” is midway through its second season. You can watch her character, Laila, on her quest for stardom on BET Tuesdays at 10 PM EST/ 9 CST.
What was it like growing up on television?
Honestly, it all just seemed so normal to me. I guess since I started at such a young age. Thinking about it now it kind of trips me out lol. My childhood was not normal whatsoever, but I got to experience some really awesome things early on.
Did you always want to be an actress?
Yes! Entertaining has always been a passion of mine. Growing up with a mom who was also pursuing an acting career I guess it kind of just rubbed off on me. Every little girl’s first idol and inspiration is their mom.
How is it juggling a family and an acting career?
For one, having such a supportive family is key. Couldn’t do much without them, but I am also fortunate to have a job that’s flexible. I think I’ll always be that mom who always has her kid with her, lol, or not too far away, if that makes sense.
What is your dream role and/or an actor you would love to work with?
I’d love to be in something scary. I’m such a horror freak and I love crazy, suspenseful thrillers. I also have to be in an action film one day. I have to learn some kick ass moves. It would be an absolute honor to share the screen with Angela Bassett or Denzel, of course.
What are three things you must have on set when working on a project?
My dog, Jett. Something amazing to eat at some point during the day and coffee, ha-ha.
I see you do a lot of work with the Stand Up to Cancer Foundation. Tell me more about that.
Yes, I love working with “Stand Up to Cancer.” I’ve been a part of the team for a while and unfortunately had family members who’ve been directly affected by cancer. So, it’s an honor to do my part by bringing awareness and standing up for them.
How did the pandemic affect the filming of season two of “Games People Play?”
Well, it definitely had a lot of people knocking my door down wondering when we’d be back. It was so hard because I honestly didn’t have an answer for them and I felt terrible. So, it was great finally to be able to get back to work with my classmates, and it was hectic on set dealing with Covid compliance. But we made it through and season two turned out soooo amazing!.
What can fans expect from your character, Laila, in the remainder of season two?
You can expect to see Laila truly come into her own and let her guard down in ways you never saw in season one. Almost accepting who she is.
Any exciting plans for 2022?
I’m looking forward to releasing a special project I’ve been working on all year. And returning to your screens for season three.
