PB Approved: KVD Beauty: Cruelty Free At-Home Artistry
The beauty industry has changed substantially within recent years in light of the significant changes made to the consumer’s everyday lives. Makeup products are no longer simply expected to enhance one’s beauty, but to make the wearer’s skin feel more comfortable and nourished in addition to being produced in an ethical and sustainable way. Having had the opportunity to try out a plethora of products from their most recent line, KVD’s Beauty products capture the essence of what is to be expected from the modern-day beauty brand: quality products that make your skin look and feel its best without sacrificing your values or creativity.
The KVD brand’s mission statement portrays its meaning behind the brand’s conception. Founded in a tattoo studio, it is no wonder that the brand stands firm in its belief that makeup, alongside tattoos, can be some of the greatest outward forms of creative expression. For that reason, the brand offers an expansive variety of products from everyday basics, such as foundation, to astonishing eyeshadows and highlighters. The brand encourages its audience to embrace its unique qualities and to be bold in every aspect of one’s life. KVD also emphasizes a passion for the health of the world around us and all of its inhabitants. For that reason, the beauty brand has not participated in any form of animal testing since its conception in 2008. Its first fully vegan beauty product came just two years later in the form of a liquid eyeliner and, in 2016, the brand announced a complete transition to a completely vegan beauty brand. The products appear lavish and high-quality simply by the packaging alone. Planned down to the most minute detail, the casing engulfing the product is sturdy without relinquishing any of the company’s aesthetic.
The Good Apple Skin-Perfecting Foundation Balm is a light-weight foundation that doesn’t budge throughout the day. The creamy product melts into your skin to create the appearance of a hydrated perfectly even skin tone that can cover a variety of needs from simple skin imperfections ranging to the complete coverage of tattoos. The formula is highly pigmented, and the wearer does not need much to achieve their desired look.
Resulting from the popularity of its foundation, KVD Beauty created a concealer in the same fashion. The product mimics the foundation’s blendability and high concentration while providing an array of additional uses. The concealer is sold in a variety of shades that can be chosen based on the desired result. For example, a shade that is similar to your skin tone can be used to spot treat blemishes, while a shade that is slightly yellow/golden in undertone can be used to color correct.
I received the ModCon Liquid-Gel Blush in two different shades. The color Luminary is described as a peachy beige that melts onto the skin giving a translucent glow without any remnants of glitter or streakiness. The second shade, Glowlita, is a dusty rose that provides the perfect look of a natural sun kissed glow. The products can also be combined to formulate your own perfect blush shade. Easy to use, the blush does exactly what it is intended to do by giving the wearer a glow from the inside out appearance that make your skin look healthy and radiant.
One of my favorite products was the Dazzle Vegan Eyeshadow Stick. A product like nothing I had ever used before, it comes in packaging reminiscent of a lipstick. The slender product can be used by dabbing your finger onto the end of the eyeshadow and directly applying it to your lid or with the interest of creating a more pigmented look, by using a flat eyeshadow brush. Each of the colors has the appearance of metallic flecks that reflect the light in a shimmery pearlescent way that creates a vibrant show-stopping look.
The last product I tried was the Epic Kiss Nourishing Vegan Butter Lipstick. Highly pigmented, the lipstick has a smooth gliding texture with a thin applicator that allows easy mistake-free application. From neutral shades to a deep blue, the lipsticks can achieve whatever your creative heart desires.
Each of the products I used had its own benefits and uses, however, they share common characteristics: highly pigmented, smooth to the touch, hydrating, and long-lasting formulas. The KVD Beauty brand representing a line of nourishing products that allows the everyday individual to discover one’s own form of at-home artistry using makeup without the guilt of bringing harm to the world around us.
