Priyanka's DEVASTATIA on Tour
Queen Priyanka, Canadian pop star and winner of Canada’s Drag Race, is on the move: After dropping her debut album, DEVASTATIA, on August 23rd, she has recently set off on a tour across North America. Priyanka promises a viewing experience like no other, bringing a 70 minute show to 23 different cities across the country. After being a lead on Emmy Award winning HBO Series “We’re Here” and hitting over 20 million steams on her EP “Taste Test,” this is simply the next logical stop in her journey to spread the message of acceptance and love through her mesmerizing music and visuals.
DEVASTATIA features eight showstopping tacks that mark Priyanka as not just a drag queen, but a successful and enthralling pop star, demonstrating that there is room in the music world for artists such as herself. The highly anticipated album is “a celebration of self-expression, resilience, and unapologetic glamor... Her unique voice and empowering vision shine through every track, offering all of us, and herself, permission to walk boldly, find strength in self-discovery, and love our messy and sparkling lives.” Along with the album came two beautiful, aesthetically pleasing music videos with powerful messages behind them. “Shut It Down” is an upbeat tune that encourages listeners to eliminate toxic relationships and rise above hatred, and the music video shows just that. Labeling it a “a love letter to my beautiful community” in the comments of the video’s YouTube post, Priyanka showcases a complete sense of joy in, and ecstatic celebration of, individuality. Next up, the titular song “DEVASTATIA” is seen through a slightly edgier lens, using Godzilla references to show her unstoppable nature and refusal to accept the word “no”, a “bold statement of self-empowerment and unapologetic individuality.”
Additionally, Priyanka has recently added a new stop to her tour: Demonstrating her commitment to advocacy and lending her voice to her community, she will be performing in Guyana on December 7th as the 1st International Pride Ambassador for Guyana Pride. She is eager to spread the message of acceptance, as it is not yet legal to demonstrate same-sex intimacy there, and LGBTQ+ voices are often quickly silenced.
