You’ve starred in a range of shows, including the action-comedy "Jackpot" with John Cena, Awkwafina, and Simu Liu, as well as "Cora Bora" alongside Maegan Stalter and Manny Jacinto. Additionally we cannot forget your role as “Beth Ann” in “I Love That For You” Is there a particular film or show where the filming process felt especially smooth and enjoyable?
It was the first day of Jackpot! and I had already been there for two weeks doing fight training. I was so damn ready and excited to finally start shooting, except on the first day, I accidentally set my alarm for 5pm instead of 5am. It was a nightmare! My driver, Tambra, had to ask the hotel wake me up because I was 30 minutes late. I was distraught and crying while hurriedly getting dressed. I thought I ruined the day, but as soon as Nora and I started shooting together, we were in a groove having FUN. Paul cultivates a warm creative environment that feels very free - it was a dream. Basically, what I thought was going to be a cursed day turned into a super smooth day.

Can you describe the moment you found you've been casted to star in a comedy series “Mr Throwback” executively produced by Steph Curry and Adam Pally? What originally drew you to this project?
Mr. Throwback is truly one of the funniest scripts I’ve ever read. What really sold me was when I went in for my chemistry read with Adam Pally - we just clicked. I fell in love with the whole creative team and their ethos. Everything about it just felt right, when you know you know, ya know?

With a long resume of acting and nearly constant new projects each year, how do you manage to maintain a healthy work-life balance?
Dancing around my house, and a good therapist.

Can you describe your daily routine when you're on set for a filming day?
I always eat breakfast while watching reality TV, like The Bachelor or Love Is Blind. Then I have to meditate and tell myself cringe things like “I'm proud of you” to start the day in a positive place.

Are there any hobbies you're interested in pursuing? Do you see any of them potentially becoming a new career path for you in the future?
After doing fight training for Jackpot!, I got obsessed with stunts. I really want to do more action and kickass shit.

As an actor, many strive for prestigious awards like an Oscar or Emmy. Reflecting on your journey so far, what accomplishments are you most proud of? Looking ahead, what is a career milestone you hope to achieve by 2025?
I'm so proud of the documentary I'm directing about my childhood band, X-Cetra. It’s a bizarre story - we made a CD in the year 2000 and got discovered on the internet in 2020. Now we're signed to a label called Numero Group and have a vinyl album coming out next year. It's been a wild ride!

Throughout the extensive history of your career, was there any role you found to be a bit challenging and why?
Honestly, the most scared and intimidated I've ever been was on the set of Veep - which was entirely me getting in my own way. Everyone there was lovely and welcoming and supportive, but the show was a big deal to me and I was so honored to be there that I got in my head. Which is a great example of why I had to start meditating!

How do you see your dual identity as Iranian and American shaping your career in the entertainment industry?
It's been interesting, because when I first started out, the kinds of roles that existed for women were pretty flimsy and honestly unfamiliar to me, not representative of any real women I knew. Plus America had such a limited view of middle eastern culture. I was told I could never be a leading lady because I was too “ethnic.” I was always auditioning for very stereotypical roles. It does feel different now. I'm meeting all these cool young filmmakers, and Persian women directors. It’s exciting! I’m grateful that the roles I audition for now aren’t just terrorists or Princess Jasmine.
