Swarovski x Skims: A New Collection Combines Comfort and Glamour

Kim Kardashian is not only an A-List celebrity from her reality TV show, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” but also is a business mogul in both the beauty and fashion industry. She has brought a fresh and fun take to the world of shapewear and is now taking it one step further. She has become the talk of the fashion world this past week, announcing her newest collaboration of SKIMS and Swarovski. She announced the collaboration with the luxury jewelry brand on November 2nd, 2023. To our excitement, the collection launched less than a week later, on November 7th on Skims.com and in select Swarovski stores.

As both Kardashian and Swavorski took to their Instagrams to announce the legendary collaboration, they gave a statement about the collection. Kardashian stated, “a first of its kind collaboration that fuses Swarovski’s iconic glamour with SKIMS innovative silhouettes, resulting in a unique crystallized collection.” With the description, and a few photos, we see how the products are not ordinary shapewear. With the shimmering of Swarovski crystals, SKIMS shapewear is brought to a new level of elegance. Swavorski’s creative director, Giovanna Engelbert, also stated “partnering with Skims has brought that philosophy to new categories with our body jewelry and vast array of intimates, bodysuits and dresses.”

SKIMS has become a household name for shapewear in the fashion industry, due to Kardashian’s commitment to the brand and publicity due to other collaborations. Recently, SKIMS created some buzz with a partnership with the NBA, creating a menswear line. As Kardashian checks off accomplishment after accomplishment, it is not unexpected for her to create an experimental collection for SKIMS. During a press release, she discussed the concept for the Swarovski x SKIMS collection. She stated, “For this collaboration, we really wanted to celebrate individual creativity and bring more glamour into getting dressed every day,” showing that shapewear does not have to be so simple.

As the promotions for the collaboration created a stir, we did not have to wait long to see all the pieces for the collection. On November 7th, we viewed the entire collection, including intimates, form-fitted dresses, bodysuits and even some jewelry and body chains. The simple silhouettes of the shapewear allow Swavorski’s shimmering jewels to take center stage in the majority of the pieces. All of the pieces can be bought in a range of colors, like neutrals and pink and green, as well as sizes from XS-4XL! This collaboration allows normal shapewear to be challenged, showing how a few jewels can elevate a simple look. It allows for an essence of glamour to be incorporated in your day-to-day wardrobe. As stated by Swavorski’s creative director, “Jewelry has no limitations—its possibilities for self-expression are not confined …”, which shines through in this exciting collaboration.
