How did you learn about “Shoresey” (‘Shoresy”), and why did you become interested in the series? What can you tell us about your character Nat?
The character of Shoresy is a fan favorite in the wildly popular original series of Letterkenny, which I’ve been a huge fan of for years. When I got a call from my agent that they were considering me for the role of Nat I was super excited.
Nat inherits a hockey team from her late mother, and under her watch the team starts unraveling pretty quickly. This isn’t great. Nat is extremely competitive. She hates to lose and wants to uphold the legacy of her Mom to keep the team winning and the community together.
Flanked by her two best friends, Miigwan and Ziigwan, this female power trio does its best to wrangle the hockey players into a winning team. I grew up playing competitive sports, so it was easy for me to connect to that same competitive nature that lives within Nat, and what it means to be a part of a team. Though she is definitely more cut-throat than I am.
What did you enjoy about working on the series? Are there any moments or scenes you are particularly excited for audiences to see?
Sometimes you work on a show and there’s this magic that happens and things just start clicking right away. You have this feeling like, this is something really special, and you hope that it translates on screen. The cast gelled really quickly and this helped us get into our characters and lift up the relationships quickly. I love this show particularly because the comedic style is so unique. Jared Keeso, the show’s creator, has developed this really sharp, fast-paced comedic tone, which feels like you’re flying once you take off.
Watching Jared play Shoresy, this big burly hockey player who has a penchant to cry when he loses, was an absolute delight every day. All of his scenes are fun and punchy, but there’s also this beautiful layer of heart that runs through the show and its characters. One scene that I love is when we meet Shoresy’s family. But I’m just excited for people to watch the show and get to know this hilarious world.
Your three upcoming projects span three different genres—action, comedy, and thriller. Do you prefer one style over another? Did you have experience working in all three prior to these projects?
I don’t really have a preference, but I am developing a hunger for comedy. Previously I was doing a lot more drama than anything else, but I just love acting, so toss anything juicy my way and I always get excited by the process of trying to find new ways to bring characters to life and make the performances compelling and fun to watch. I’m a goof in real life, so it’s nice to be more playful onscreen. I love the world of comedy.

How did you prepare for your role?
I binged Letterkenny about a million times for the rhythm of the comedy, just as a starting point. But I also noticed that there’s something about the setup of the three girls who run the team, which felt powerful and almost mob-like.
I started revisiting gangster films and how the men organized themselves to get ‘the job done.’ There’s something strong and comedic about this brick wall of Nat, Miigwan, and Ziigwan, and how the girls don’t let the chaos of the hockey players sway them at all. They’re just like you can’t fuck with us. This strong front that the girls find and maintain is what keeps the players in check and trickles through the entire team, which is so great.
Do you have any dream projects or roles?
Catwoman has always been a character that fascinates me. The balance of power, fragility, and sexual prowess that her character embodies intrigues me. There are many iconic performances of Catwoman already, but I would love to have a hand at portraying her.
What are your goals in the coming years? Any mediums or genres you hope to explore more?
My goals in the coming years are to have fun. Shoresy whets my appetite for comedy, so I know I’ll be exploring that further. Otherwise, I’ll continue to write scripts, and eventually get into producing my own films and sharing stories that fascinate me.
