Tell us about yourself.
Man, that’s a lot to unpack. We can start with my current titles as father, husband, friend, and actor. I keep it pretty simple. On the daily basis, I try to maintain a balanced life with strong and enlightening mental, physical, and spiritual practices with an emphasis on gratitude and helping others. I believe that is the key to true happiness. And it’s working so far. I love my life.
How did you get into acting?
I fell in love with it when I was a kid. I started out acting in plays and then at 13 I got a talent agent and started working professionally.
Tell us about Kyle McLusky from “Mayor of Kingstown.”
Kyle’s going through a lot, especially after Season One’s explosive finale. His whole world’s been shaken up. And he’s questioning everything he’s ever known or been told. This season, he’s taking matters into his own hands in order to find his way through the chaos.
What drew you to play Kyle?
Working with Taylor Sheridan and Jeremy Renner was the draw! But also, I just connected with the character the moment I read the pilot. I’ve gone through similar experiences that Kyle has to go though. I understand his plight.
You have a lot of experience, what was your most challenging role and why?
All of them are challenging in their own way. Every character is different and has different goals, motivations, intricacies. You gotta know everything about a character. Also, you gotta know why they are relevant to the story. And it’s your job to make that character make sense; all the while taking someone else’s words and bringing truth to them.
How do you draw your inspiration and prepare for your role?
I pull from life experiences and imagination to create a character. Then I prep backstory and primal instincts with two coaches.
Who was your role model growing up?
Probably my brothers. I thought they were the coolest dudes on the planet and they probably were at that time. They taught me to surf, skate, listen to punk rock, and do things my way.
What are some of your hobbies?
Surf, skate, snow, listen to NOFX.
Tell us what it’s like to be a producer and actor? What is that like?
It’s a fuckin’ rollercoaster. Not for the faint of heart.
What are your goals?
Work with the best people on the best projects.
