The Crawlers Take on Brooklyn’s Elsewhere Zone, Brooklyn, NY

Up-and-coming English rock band of four, The Crawlers, performed at Brooklyn’s Elsewhere Zone on Tuesday, October 17th. Their most streamed song “Come Over (Again)” went viral on TikTok in 2021. TikTok creators flooded the platform with videos featuring the haunting lyrics from the song's third verse: "take her name out of your mouth, you don't deserve to mourn." Their debut album, “The Mess We Seem to Make,” is scheduled to be released on February 16, 2024.

With Holly Minto on vocals, Harry Breen on drums, Liv Kettle on bass and Amy Woodall on guitar, their Brooklyn performance marked the third stop on their current tour. The band is gearing up for their next performance in Los Angeles, having already left their mark in Germany and Canada. They’ve come a long way since their humble formation, starting in a shed six years ago in the North of England and “skipping train fare to make it to practice.” They are grateful to perform around the world and even open for their childhood heroes My Chemical Romance in 2022.

The Crawlers use their songs to comment on both universal and personal issues - from concerns over social media and technology, to female beauty standards. “The most traumatic thing can get turned into such a positive thing,” says bass guitarist Liv. The Bushwick venue was perfect for the intimate performance, with the band engaging with the small but enthusiastic audience. With a pounding beat and strobe lights, this performance was an intense sensory experience.
