The Madison House of Image

The Madison House of Image, a female-owned and operated salon located in southern Ohio and founded by Madison Weber, is known as MADHOUSE and it offers a wide range of both hair and skin services. Whether you’re needing a haircut, facial, or lash lift, MADHOUSE has you covered. The salon also promotes safe and environmentally conscious skin and hair care products.

When did you realize that you wanted to be a hairstylist?
I have always loved doing hair. Even in high school, I loved it when friends would ask for assistance with their hair or makeup.

Why did you want to open your own salon?
I am an independent person and my perception of a salon atmosphere was quite different from most. Not only did I want to offer an upscale + beauty experience for guests, but I wanted to take it even a step further. This is why I created client-tailored luxuries all throughout the building. Additionally, my standards of knowledge go beyond just myself in regard to the salon. I wanted to be sure that all guests to be surrounded by the most knowledgeable + experienced professionals in the craft. We are constantly upgrading and being educating in our profession, and I am happy that I have the ability to make the service a priority. We combine decades of experience and we take pride in offering high-end + exclusive services and products for our area.

Tell us about the variety of services MADHOUSE offers.
We offer designer haircutting, hair coloring, extensions, smoothing, and more. In addition to our tailored hair services, we also offer various lash, brow, and skin services. We now also offer medical-grade procedures and products with our in-house board-certified Nurse Practitioner. These services combined have been a game changer for our guests who love and trust their results with us. We love that we can offer these services all under one roof.

What’s your go-to hairstyle?
If you know me, you’ll know how much I love a beachy soft curl style. However, recently I became certified in systematic layer haircutting. This new skill has been a crowd favorite! So, my updated answer would absolutely be the signature layer design cut paired with a beautiful professional blowout.

What are some of your favorite hair care products right now?
My favorite products right now would definitely be SEVEN Haircare and All Nutrient. We love clean brands that stand by their products and these particular brands do just that. SEVEN just launched its  BOND serum, which is available for purchase on our website. This serum is heat activated and contains cruelty-free + clean ingredients that strengthen and protect hair from further damage. This is one of many of my favorite products from SEVEN. If you visit our Facebook page, you will see more information on assorted products **that we recommend and use in the salon.

Have you noticed any popular hair or beauty trends?
We have been seeing lots of pixie/mixie haircuts recently, especially in Vogue. My all-time favorite cut is the classic sleek bob. I am so happy to see these trends debuting back in time for the new season. I anticipate lots of rich chocolates, warm blondes, and deep copper hair color trends this fall as well.

What is your favorite form of self-care?
One of my favorite forms of self-care is a facial or having a hair service done. It may seem odd that my self-care would be in my workplace, however, it’s nice to be in the guest's chair, absorbing all of the indulgences that are offered during a relaxing appointment. I also enjoy nightly neighborhood walks for self-care. It’s amazing how just a short walk can help whatever is on your mind at the time.

Do you have any beauty secrets or tips?
One of my favorite beauty tips is to buy yourself a water softening filter for your shower head. They make a significant impact on hair and skin, especially if you live in a location with hard water. You will thank me later.

What advice would you give to anyone interested in owning a salon?
Be patient, hire a salon coach, and know your profit margins. Never stop learning. Invest in yourself. Be authentic. Surround yourself with people who are going where you want to go. And lastly, but most importantly, have lots of faith in your process.
