2024 Music Midpoint: Highlighting the Top 14 Songs of the Year

We are halfway through 2024 and to celebrate we are going through our top 14 songs of 2024 and why we keep replaying them in a loop. 


Ariana Grande - Boy Is Mine

Back from her acting days on the set of Wicked, Ariana released what we say is one of the best albums 2024 has given us so far. Part of the Eternal Sunshine album, "The Boy Is Mine" is considered one of her most popular songs within her discography alone. With a playful Catwoman music video starring Brandy and Monica from the original The Boy Is Mine (1998), the song has brought fun pop music videos back and Miss Ariana Grande back into music.


Tyla - Jump

With her self-titled album and another hit in her hands, Grammy winner Tyla gave us yet another summer song in 2024. Following the success of "Water," Tyla released her music video for "Jump," showcasing different parts of her heritage in South Africa and stylish outfits. Always finding a way to connect her home to her art, the song features Afro beats and hip-hop genres. 


Kali Uchis - “Igual que un Angel”

From her full-length album "Orquídeas," Kali Uchis released "Igual Que un Ángel ft Peso Pluma," harmonizing and creating a new feel of contemporary R&B. The song not only showcases Peso Pluma's ability to adapt to new genres of music but also introduces new sounds we haven't heard from Kali Uchis before. Breaking the news to the world, the music video for "Igual que un Ángel" showcased a pregnant Kali Uchis and a nostalgic '80s feel. Synth-pop is back, and this is one of our most streamed songs this summer.


Beyonce - 16 carriages

Beyoncé always amazes us with her creativity and thought process behind every new album she creates. As a tribute to her Texas and Southern roots, "Cowboy Carter" gave country music a new twist that only Beyoncé can create and represent. "16 Carriages" stands out as one of the top songs that deserve mention from this incredible album. With lyrics that reminisce about her past and childhood, and how she sacrificed her youth to become the person she wanted to be, this song is crucial to the album and one of the best releases of 2024.


Chapelle Roan - Good Luck Babe

The next pop star of our generation, Chapelle Roan took 2024 by storm and became one of the hottest artists of summer 2024. With vocals like no other and an incredible stage presence, it's about time we started seeing more of her at festivals and TV night shows. The song's storytelling about a woman finding it hard to deny her feelings towards other women conveys a raw emotion many still face in 2024. With the song rising in the charts, we will surely see Miss Roan at the Grammys next year.


Hozier - Too Sweet

Our favorite Irishman returned to treat us with his third studio album, "Unreal Unearth: Unheard." With "Too Sweet" dominating TikTok and other social media platforms, Hozier has once again provided a song that inspires us to dance around our kitchens while preparing dinner with friends. The catchy tune and sweet lyrics narrate the story of a couple who embrace their differences and navigate their relationship.


Megan De Stallion - hiss

Getting her words off her chest, Megan Thee Stallion delivered one of the best diss tracks aimed at female rappers in 2024. Engaged in a feud involving various artists, Megan came out winning in the end. Her track "Hiss" topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts and garnered widespread applause across social media for the way she communicated her message. Throwing facts left and right, this marked the beginning of her incredible success in 2024.


Lisa - rockstar

Lisa, from the popular girl group Blackpink, released her highly anticipated debut single "Rockstar" under her own company and RCA Records. Showcasing a new side of the soloist, the song features an electrifying pop feel that makes you want to dance to its unique sound and lyrics. In the music video, Lisa displays her rap and dance skills alongside more than 50 dancers, with filming taking place in Thailand from 2 am to 5 am. The video also features Thai actors and models, adding to its cultural richness. 


Perrie - tears

The second Little Mix member to make her solo debut, Perrie did not disappoint. In a fun, slow-pop fusion track, Edwards expresses how the song conveys the emotion of letting go of the past and moving on from a difficult situation. The music video, featuring a '70s aesthetic with incredible visuals and outfits, has already topped the UK charts and earned a spot at the Capital One performance.


Get It sexxy - sexxyred

Recently showcased at the BET Awards, Sexxy Red is among our favorite hip-hop artists of 2024. Her latest album, "In Sexxy We Trust," features "Get It Sexxy," one of the most streamed tracks from her new release. With Myspace filters adding a nostalgic touch and exuding a confident aura, the song has secured a spot in the Top 25 charts. Sexxy Red's music continues to resonate, promising ongoing streams today, tomorrow, and into 2025.


New jeans - how sweet

With its second single album, New Jeans has returned to deliver K-pop summer perfection. Featuring upbeat melodies, synths, and dance-pop vibes, "How Sweet" marks another hit for the girl group. Showcasing their singing and stage performance abilities, the accompanying music video evokes nostalgic elements from the early 2000s. The group officially made their comeback this past June with "Supernatural."


Sabrina carpenter - Espresso

"I'm working late, 'cause I'm a singer," a song originally intended for her Coachella set, Espresso took both the music festival and the charts by storm. Radiating golden energy during the peak of summer, Sabrina delivered full Barbie moments while showcasing a new disco-pop anthem to the world. Achieving her first top 10 on the Billboard charts, this song not only played in our radios but also became a staple at our local bars.


Kendrick Lamar - Not like us

If you dont know the online beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake please let your little brother sit you down and explain it to you! ( mine did) The distrack that made everyone on twitter trend the song for days and ultimately take it to number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Following the “Meet the Grahams” This new track brought forth further allegations against Drake and his persona. Claimed as one of the best hip hop songs this 2024 we cant wait to see what else Kendrick will release or where he will perform it. 


Tommy Richman “ Million Dollar Baby”

From his debut studio album "Coyote," the R&B track soared to number two on the Billboard charts and reached peak positions on international charts worldwide. "Million Dollar Baby" resonates as a song about staying steadfast to his beliefs and ambitions, showcasing Richman's manifestation of his dream life and success through his music. As a promising breakthrough artist in 2024, he continues to captivate with his creativity and passion, putting his hometown firmly on the map.


Now that we are halfway through the year, we eagerly anticipate more music from our favorite artists around the world. As July begins, we can't wait to see which artists will release new music in the coming months and embark on tour!
