Alexander McQueen Autumn/Winter 2023 Collection

Alexander McQueen revealed its Autumn/Winter 2023 collection at Paris Fashion Week under creative director, Sarah Burton. The collection, titled “Anatomy,” explores “beauty and power.” From strict corsets to exploded necklines and upside-down lapels to slashed skirts, McQueen proves it makes its own rules.

McQueen’s Autumn/Winter 2023 collection showcases anatomy in all forms: human anatomy, the anatomy of clothing, and the anatomy of flowers. “The most prominent motif in the collection is the orchid,” says Burton in a press release. “It thrives in the air, resists being rooted and grows in the wild. Extraordinarily beautiful and infinitely adaptable, the orchid mimics both predator and prey. In the language of flowers, the orchid is a symbol of love.”

For this collection, McQueen opted for mostly dark and neutral tones (black, grey, white, beige) with a few bold pops of color (red, indigo, and nightshade). The collection offers a mix of traditionally masculine and feminine garments: tailored coats and jumpsuits, dresses, heeled trousers, vests, and corsets. McQueen showed off its impeccable tailoring once again in this collection, but the designs are anything but ordinary. They are deconstructed and asymmetric with daring cut-outs. McQueen perfectly combined leather with cashmere, wool, and cotton poplin. Tulle was combined with crystal anatomical embroidery and bugle bead fringing. Denim also made an appearance on the runway in a corset with integrated heeled trousers and a folded coverall.

Jewelry for the collection included dissected flower ear sets, orchid and skeletal orchid rings, chain ear sets, cuff bracelets and rings. Bags featured in the collection are: The Seal and Seal Box, The Peak and Small Peak, The Jewelled Hobo and Jewelled Hobo Mini, The Grip Mini, The Reverse Clutch, and The Knuckle Clutch.
