Caroline Zimbalist Blends Fashion and Art for Spring / Summer 2025
Caroline Zimbalist debuted her Spring / Summer 2025 collection via a presentation during New York Fashion Week. Models worked their way around the 2-story building walking up and down the staircase and taking turns standing in place. This made the presentation feel like a mix of a runway show and art exhibition. The collection featured 21 looks mixing bioplastics and a variety of other textiles with a prominent fabric being tulle. I personally loved how creative and innovative this collection was, and how Zimbalist was able to fuse artistry with fashion. It reminded me of different elements of nature such as flowers, water, moss, and woodland forestry. The collection embodied the enchantment of fairies and natural beauty. The color palette mostly featured vibrant shades of green, pink, blue, and purple. Models wore sculpted accessories and custom bioplastic embellished jelly sandals from Melissa Brasil. Caroline Zimbalist’s bioplastic sculptures were also on display throughout the venue with some models holding the sculptures as they walked.
“SS25 is focused primarily on making bioplastics a larger proportion of my outfits and adding more artistic detail. The previous show was more of an introduction of my brand and the use of biomaterial as an alternative textile,” says Caroline in a press relase. “I am refining and modifying some looks to fuse into evening attire that isn’t overly conspicuous, using techniques for softer, form-fitting garments. I paired some molds with RTW as the silhouette or a harder bioplastic outer layer and also included bio-wet drapes on traditional textile, embellished with hand paintings or biomaterial appliques. A secondary goal of SS25 is more exposure of my sculpted accessories line which sells briskly for the merchants who carry them. Lastly, I am highlighting my patent-pending bioplastic buttons. Since biomaterial dries unevenly, each button is unique yet functional.”
