Intertwining Halloween with Fashion & Moving Away from Store-Bought “Costumey” Costumes
This Halloween, our inspiration extends beyond the ordinary—the possibilities are endless. during Halloween, you can be anything; you can embody any era and any person. This year, we introduce costumes as a concept, moving away from store-bought “costumey” costumes that your eyes tire of seeing each year, moving further into an embodiment of a role. Intertwining Halloween with fashion is all about putting pieces you already have together, uncovering hidden gems you only coincidentally found at a thrift store—an easter egg to your finishing look—one step closer to becoming the centerpiece of this year’s one-of-a-kind costume.
1. A Woman from the 50s
Celebrities have embodied the 50s woman in many ways—like Gigi Hadid’s greaser-inspired look. But the 50s woman could be anything—she wears long dresses, she has pin curlers in her hair, she has an oven mitt on, or maybe her pants are leather and rugged to the touch—she’s caged in modest red Mary Janes.
2. Milkman
One for the boys—the milkman–to tastefully pair with your lady from the 50s. Everyone knows the milkman is always having an affair with the lovely girl next door. Throw on a white shirt, a black cap, and some white pants, carry a milk jug, and call it a day.
3. Witches: Twitches, Hocus Pocus
A classic that never fails. Nothing screams Halloween more than a witch! Cast a spell on everyone with your enchanting looks. Start with a corset and take inspiration from the witches we grew up with—the Sanderson sisters, Twitches, and Marty from Halloweentown. Layer away with dresses, long or short, and finalize your look with some tall boots and, of course, a witch hat.
4. Jazzercise, but let's make it authentic!
Think Jane Fonda and all of the Pilates tapes full of totally dated moves that might not be totally approved anymore; however, that’s not stopping us from becoming Jamie Lee Curtis in Perfect. If you're looking for something casual, throw on some leg warmers and your comfiest body suit, and you're all set.
5. Artist Red Carpet Looks
Make Halloween your Met Gala with a look that becomes part of your very own “most memorable moments.” Give yourself a theme, and immerse yourself in countless designer looks you wish you could have yourself.
