Mad Hippie: A Vegan, GMO, And Cruelty Free Skincare & Makeup Brand
Mad Hippie is a vegan, GMO and cruelty free skincare and makeup brand founded by Sam and Dana, a newlywed couple who moved to Central America in search of adventure. Upon their arrival they fell in love with the nature that surrounded them, but the long fun hours spent in the sun soon caused skin consequences. That’s when the idea to create Mad Hippie was born. Driven by their love for nature and simplicity, Mad Hippie is made of clean, safe ingredients and all its packaging is fully recyclable. They partnered up with TerraCycle, which is a recycling company that offers recycling programs to customers to keep packaging waste out of landfills. Mad Hippie donates $1 of every web sale to conservations.
When I first received the products I was delighted to see the colorful and fun packaging the skincare products arrived in as well as the small pamphlet, containing every detail you should know about the company’s skincare products. The first product I used was the Mad Hippie Jelly Cleanser which has a price tag of $17.99. it claims to be a hydrating mildly acidic cleanser with an antioxidant boost to melt away dirt and impurities. The cleanser has a clear jelly consistency with a calming chamomile scent. When washing my face, I was surprised by how smooth and refreshed my skin felt afterwards. The jelly cleanser did not strip my face of its natural oils or leave my face feeling tight at all, which I loved.
Next, the Mad Hippie website says the Vitamin C Serum costs $33.99 and claims the product rejuvenates, brightens and evens skin tone, and improves the overall appearance of the skin. This was the product that I was super excited about because I have been on the hunt for a vitamin C serum that wouldn’t irritate my sensitive skin. The serum has a fresh scent and thick consistency that doesn’t slip on your skin. It spreads very well. Once absorbed into my skin I immediately saw a glow and brightening effect, especially on my forehead area that has a few acne scars and hyperpigmentation. I was impressed with this serum and can’t wait to add it onto my skincare routine, and I’ll continue to use it.
The last product was the Mad Hippie Antioxidant facial oil, which I was a little nervous to use because I have oily skin and thought that the product could leave my face feeling extremely greasy. This product costs $24.99 on the Mad Hippie website and has antioxidant support to hydrate, soothe, and calm your skin. This facial oil has a sweet orange scent and takes a little longer to absorb onto the skin as compared to the serum. However, once fully dried it leaves your skin feeling extremely soft and hydrated. I definitely recommend using this product as the last skincare step in your nighttime routine.
Overall, I genuinely enjoyed not only trying these clean simple products but also learning about the dedication of Mad Hippie to help preserve the environment. I think that those who are looking to test and try new clean skincare products should definitely check out Mad Hippie.
