Chloe Bridges
Chloe Bridges is an actress known first for her roles as Zoey Moreno on Freddie, and Dana Turner in Disney’s Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. Since then, she has starred in films such as Forget Me Not, Family Weekend, and Nightlight. She also held recurring roles as Donna LaDonna on The Carrie Diaries, Sydney on Pretty Little Liars, and Roxy on Insatiable. She recently took on the role of Jessie on Hulu’s new series Maggie, which follows a psychic as she navigates life and love.
How would you describe Maggie?
It’s a feel-good rom com. It’s about a psychic who can see her own future and snippets of what will happen in her love life, and how that affects the decisions she makes in the present. It’s also a realistic tale of dating in your 30s, and how your friends can become your family.
What did you connect with in her character? Did you see yourself in her at all?
Jessie is easy to relate to because she’s just a good person. She’s naturally warm, kind, and friendly without ever seeming inauthentic. I see myself in how she’s motivated first and foremost by her relationships. She just wants to be a good partner and a good friend.
How do you think the story will resonate with audiences?
It’s a relatable portrait of dating in your thirties, whether you’re on the apps, whether you’re in a long-term relationship and wondering if it’s the right partner for life, and whether you’re figuring out the early years of marriage. It’s also a story about hope: how it’s important to keep going and keep trying even when you know things might not work out.
How old were you when you started acting?
When I was 11 years old I heard an ad on the radio for acting classes when I was in the car with my mom after school. After I expressed interest, we ended up signing up for the classes, and it took off in a way neither of us expected. At 12 years old I moved to Los Angeles and started acting professionally.
What drew you to it?
I was in a boatload of extracurricular activities growing up: piano, art, dance, gymnastics, etc. Acting class seemed very much in the wheelhouse of what I was already doing. Once I was acting, I was drawn to it because I’ve always been a quiet kid: the type who only talks once you talk to them first. With acting, the words are already there, and you get to just use them to connect with people. I liked the natural human connection and camaraderie of working with a scene partner.
Did you ever have any other “dream jobs” growing up, or did you always know that you wanted to pursue acting?
I mean I started acting at 11, so there weren’t many years preceding that where I was dreaming about other jobs. I thought I'd be a lawyer or something. How very wrong I was.
Outside of acting, how do you spend your free time?
I have a strong nesting instinct so I spend an exorbitant amount of time cleaning, organizing, and using my label maker. When I’m not doing that, I’m probably at the beach, on a plane, or at a restaurant, because I’m pretty useless in the kitchen.
Do you have any genres or styles that you want to explore more as an actress?
I love working in comedy and would love to be in more comedic films.
Who inspires you?
My husband. How hard he works, how funny he is, how he strives to never sweat the small stuff.
